Marvin Bagley probably played the best ball of his career with the Pistons, but that seems like a lot of money considering where things were at. Who were they bidding against? – 6:52 PM

Can confirm the Pistons and Marvin Bagley III have agreed to a three-year, $37 million deal. @Chris Haynes first. – 6:50 PM
Nate Duncan @NateDuncanNBA
Not sure why the Pistons have this obsession with Marvin Bagley when they now have 3 better centers on the roster and he’s too limited a shooter to play PF. – 6:50 PM
Chris Haynes @ChrisBHaynes
Restricted free agent forward Marvin Bagley III has reached an agreement with the Detroit Pistons on a three-year, $37 million deal, league sources tell @YahooSports. – 6:49 PM

I’m estimating that Detroit has somewhere between $11 million and $15 after Kemba buyout (don’t quote me — it’s unclear how much Kemba gave back). After re-signing Bagley, I could see the Pistons make one or two small signings. I could see another small trade in the cards. – 10:56 AM

Updated 2022 cap space projections:
1. Knicks – $33.5M
2. Spurs – $32.6M
3. Magic – $27.9M
4. Pacers – $25.1M
5. Pistons – $21.3M (before re-signing Marvin Bagley)
Detroit is obviously very fluid, as we’ve seen over the last week. – 12:00 PM

Believe the Detroit Pistons’ roster currently stands at 13. Include Marvin Bagley III, and it’s at 14. Barring any additional moves (and there could certainly be additional moves), they’ll only have one spot to fill in free agency. – 10:53 PM
Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42
Detroit inherits the $10M contract of Alec Burks and $9.2M salary of Nerlens Noel.
Both players have a team option for 2023/24.
The trade leaves DET with $23M in room but that doesn’t factor the FA hold for Marvin Bagley III.
DET tendered Bagley III a $7.2M Qualifying Offer. – 9:53 PM

Report: #Pistons exercise team option on Hamidou Diallo, extend offer to Marvin Bagley III: bit.ly/3AfRUMF11:11 AM

The Detroit Pistons have tendered a $7.2M qualifying offer to make Marvin Bagley III a restricted free agent on July 1, a league source tells @spotrac. – 9:16 AM

Omari Sankofa II: Despite acquiring Nerlens Noel, sources say the Pistons are still committed to bringing back Marvin Bagley III next season. They extended his qualifying offer today. -via Twitter @omarisankofa / June 29, 2022
