Matches start with just a lead character, and players unlock the rest of the lineup mid-fight by meeting conditions like Wall Breaks or landing certain throws.
This eventually opens up both assist attacks and an active tag mechanic to swap between fighters freely. Stages are dynamic and multi-sectioned, built around iconic Marvel locations with interactive transitions, per PlayStation's product page.

Editions and Pricing
"Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls" comes in three editions, all priced identically across PS5 and PC. The Standard Edition runs $59.99 and covers the full base game with all 20 launch characters.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, costs $84.99 and adds the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass — four DLC characters and one stage, plus a Howard the Duck lobby avatar and Cosmo lobby pet.
Lastly, the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and includes everything from Digital Deluxe along with five additional character costumes and an animated chromatic color pack for all 20 launch fighters.
Per Insider Gaming, the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions are digital-only, with no physical collector's boxes or merchandise bundles confirmed for launch. However, there will be a standard physical release of the base edition through retailers.
Pre-ordering any edition also nets the same set of cosmetic lobby bonuses, according to GamesReviews. The Infinity Gauntlet lobby equipment, Baby Groot lobby pet, and Cosmic Surfboard lobby ride, none of which affect gameplay balance.
