Marvel Studios is expanding its release calendar with two new dates for 2029 while also making some adjustments to its existing dates by pushing back one of its planned 2028 films.
None of the films attached to these dates have been revealed, though there are some likely candidates. Perhaps most likely for the 2028 date, which was moved from February 18, 2028 to July 13, 2028 (via The Wrap), is Academy Award winning director Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3. Coogler previously stated his plans to make the threequel his next film, following his previous two entries in the series.
There's also the hotly anticipated X-Men reboot film. With Thunderbolts/New Avengers director Jack Schreier attached to helm the movie, and the classic Fox X-Men getting their apparent farewell in Avengers: Doomsday, the timing may be right for a 2029 date. Both May 4, 2029 and July 13, 2029 have been added to Marvel's calendar, so it could slot into either one of those.
Meanwhile, Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has left the door open for a fifth film in the god of thunder's ongoing franchise, pending the direction Thor takes after December's Avengers: Doomsday.
We'd also be remiss to not consider the possibility that a Fantastic Four sequel could take shape by 2029. 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars will likely heavily incorporate the team, as will Doomsday, potentially teeing the FF up to return soon after Secret Wars.
Marvel still has one other 2028 release date lined up, with a still unnamed movie set to premiere on May 5, 2028. Whatever is coming down the pike, it promises to be a departure from the current Multiverse Saga, which will conclude with Avengers: Secret Wars, so they'll be taking place in what will likely be a vastly altered landscape for the MCU.
