Marvel star Elzabeth Olsen gets confused by 'craic' reference in Irish interview

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Elizabeth Olsen seemed taken aback by typical Irish phrases such as craic and messer when she was being interviewed by Dublin's FM104.

The 33-year-old actress, who stars in the flick as Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, laughed as she told interviewer Thomas 'Crossy' Crosse that these were new terms for her.

Crossy explained to the Hollywood star that he had seen her co-star Benedict at a BAFTA event and that he seemed "really up for the craic all the time".

Elizabeth got into a fit of giggles, which prompted Thomas to explain that "craic in Ireland means fun".

Elizabeth joked: "Those are new terms for me."

Revealing that Benedict is indeed a lot of craic, Elizabeth said: "He is really fun. He speaks very quickly and he's very smart. So I'm hanging on by a thread when I do an interview with him."

Crossy then asked if the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast have a certain "grá" for each other at this stage. Elizabeth explained that it always feels like a big catch up with friends.

She said: "We have a lot of the same crew and obviously the same cast. It does feel like a big catch up for everyone. On this film I got to be reunited with a lot of the people I started this character with in Age of Ultron."

Towards the end of the interview, she thanked Crossy for giving her lots of new words such as craic, messer and grá.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in Irish cinemas now and has been receiving rave reviews. It follows on from the events of previous Marvel projects including Doctor Strange, Avenger: Endgame, Spiderman: No Way Home and WandaVision.
