Marvel's upcoming Punisher special is set to be the MCU's longest one yet

Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle AKA Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The runtime for Marvel's upcoming Punisher special has been revealed – and apparently, it's the longest MCU one-shot yet.

According to a Writer's Guild of America listing, which was first spotted by The Independent, the Frank Castle-centered one-shot will be 60 minutes. In comparison, Werewolf By Night came in at 53 minutes, while Guardians of the Galaxy's Christmas-themed outing was just 42 minutes.

Officially titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, the short film will see Jon Bernthal's antihero "searching for a meaning" beyond bloodied brawls and mayhem. But when an unseen force threatens his journey to enlightenment, he finds the pull of violent vengeance even harder to ignore. It'll likely tee up Castle's involvement in big-screen sequel Spider-Man: Brand New Day, too, given that it'll premiere on Disney Plus two whole months beforehand on May 12.

Starring Tom Holland as the titular webslinger, the movie is set to explore the lonely fallout of Doctor Strange's anonymity-granting spell from the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Not only has his ex-girlfriend, MJ (Zendaya), embarked on a new romantic relationship, his superpowers are seriously acting up, which leads Peter Parker to seek out the help of his old pal Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

Also featuring the likes of Tramell Tillman, Eman Esfandi, Jacob Batalon, and Stranger Things' Sadie Sink, it swings into cinemas on July 31.
