Marvel’s Black Widow delayed by two months with simultaneous release on Disney+

Black Widow, an upcoming Marvel film starring Scarlett Johansson in the title role, has been pushed back by two months.

Marvel announced on Tuesday that Black Widow, which was originally scheduled for release on 7 May, will now be unveiled on 9 July.

The film will be released simultaneously in select cinemas and on Disney+, where it will be available for a premium fee.

This is one of several adjustments to Disney’s release schedule announced on Tuesday.

The upcoming Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was scheduled to come out in July, has been pushed back to 3 September.

Cruella, starring Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, is keeping its scheduled release date of 28 May, with an added simultaneous release on Disney+.

Pixar’s upcoming film Luca, meanwhile, won’t be released in cinemas and will debut on Disney+ in countries where the streaming service is available. In other markets, the film is expected to have a theatrical release.

Four more films have been given new release dates: Free Guy has been moved from 21 May to 13 August; The King’s Man from 20 August to 22 December; Deep Water from 13 August to 14 January 2022; and Death on the Nile from 17 September to 11 February 2022.
