Season 8 is upon us, and NetEase Games has confirmed one of the most anticipated pieces of news that fans have longed for, with a beloved "X-Men" character soon joining the game once the patch is complete.
'Marvel Rivals' Season 8 Adds Beloved 'X-Men' Character
NetEase Games has now answered the call from many fans worldwide as, in the upcoming Season 8, they are bringing in one of the most noticeable faces of the X-Men, Cyclops, to the game.
Scott Summers is officially joining "Marvel Rivals" as part of the Season 8 midpoint update. Several clues from prior seasons had hinted at Cyclops's existence in the background of the game's story events, but his full arrival is confirmed with the Season 8 trailer.
Since "Marvel Rivals" launched, mutants have already been part of the game, and their roster has already grown with the likes of Wolverine, Magneto, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Rogue, Gambit, and more joining in across each season.
The season's story, titled "Sins of Alchemax," focuses on Cyclops being thrown outside of his own time due to the Timestream Entanglement, landing in Nueva York in the year 2099.
Alchemax, a powerful corporation from that era, captures him and uses his optic blasts to power a version of Chronovium for their own dangerous goals. Freeing Cyclops from their grip is at the heart of the season's narrative.
What to Expect From Scott Summers/Cyclops in S8?
According to Comic Book Gaming, Cyclops' hero type in "Marvel Rivals" has not yet been officially confirmed by NetEase, but he is a welcome addition to the game, especially for "X-Men" fans.
It is speculated that Cyclops may be a Duelist as this adheres to his powers in the comics and media adaptations, where he is capable of emitting and shooting powerful energy beams from his eyes.
Based on his appearance in the Season 8 trailer, Cyclops will sport his iconic and original costume from the comics, featuring the blue and yellow overalls paired with his visor that is made out of ruby-quartz.
Since there are no extensive details yet on Cyclops' role, powers, abilities, and more, it remains unclear which his best match-ups would be and what teams would benefit most with him being part of it.
"Marvel Rivals" Season 8 is going live this Friday, May 15, alongside the debut of Devil Dinosaur, a new character that is set to feature a Vanguard role.
