Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon have openly LGBT characters, promises Kevin Feige

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have been running for over ten years, yet still there remains an increasing dearth of open LGBT characters.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, has promised to change that. Speaking to The Playlist, Feige confirmed that at least two LGBT characters are coming, one of whom will be brand new, the other someone we have seen before.

While the filmmaker remained coy regarding the character we have already seen, Tessa Thompson has previously confirmed that her character Valkyrie was bisexual, something Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi previously confirmed was event ually cut from the movie. However, considering the events of Avengers: Infinity War, her fate remains unknown.

As to when a new LGBT hero could make an appearance in an upcoming Marvel movie, there are multiple options. Ant Man and the Wasp has already been confirmed not to have an LGBT character, but Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, the newly titled Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remain options.

Feige has been busy promoting Ant Man and the Wasp, which reaches UK cinemas 3 August (a month later than the US release).
