East Kilbride shopping centre was awash with superheroes and villains at the weekend as Comic Con swept into town.
Life-size models of web slinger, Spider-Man, superhero Iron Man and a Star Wars stormtrooper greeted shoppers as they arrived at the town centre, while the event’s best cosplayers wowed the crowds.
The fifth instalment of the popular event was bigger and better than ever with over 50 traders, cosplayers, comic art classes and superhero face-painting at EK Central Library on Saturday.
A special guest at EK this year was Marvel writer and artist, Monty Nero, who has written for the mega successful X-Men and Hulk in addition to projects for Titan Comics.
The event also featured a Nerf range and a Hollywood green screen to secure that perfect blockbuster photo.
Event organiser, Ian Bonar, of BGCP Comic Con, said: “There is always a fantastic atmosphere around EK Comic Con and it was great to team up with EK Central Library and EK, East Kilbride for another superb event.
“There were some brilliant costumes on display and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”
Restaurants and leisure outlets were also involved in the superhero fun with Chiquito, Bella Italia and Aerial Adventures offering discounts, and the Ice Rink offering free skate hire, for anyone with a Comic Con ticket.
Ian McLelland, centre director at EK, East Kilbride, added: “There was a real buzz around the centre at the weekend as we welcomed just about every superhero imaginable to EK, East Kilbride. EK Comic Con always attracts a great crowd and this year was no exception.”
