Marvel boss reveals which Avengers: Endgame character could have beaten Thanos on their own

The boss of Marvel Studios has revealed that Avengers: Endgame could have ended far simply if one character had been left to take down Thanos.

Kevin Feige was reflecting on Infinity War and Endgame after the announcement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four at Comic-Con when he was asked about the character of Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen.

Infinity War saw Scarlet Witch – real name Wanda Maximoff – go after Thanos (Josh Brolin) after he killed Vision (Paul Bettany) to acquire the Mind Stone. Alas, she was dusted after the Mad Titan’s destructive finger-snap.

After being resurrected in Endgame, though, Scarlet Witch used the full force of her powers to take down Thanos who was soon backed up by his army. Feige believes that if he hadn’t called in reinforcements, the villain’s time would have been up.

“I contend she would have taken down Thanos if he hadn’t called the [army],” he told ComicBook.com. “It was done.”

Feige added that, when compared with her fellow superheroes, Olsen’s character “is probably near the upper echelons of power”.

Scarlet Witch – real name Wanda Maximoff – will be the focus of WandaVision, one of the forthcoming Marvel TV shows that’ll debut on new streaming service Disney+. It was announced at Comic-Con that the series will feature an older version of Captain Marvel character Monica Rambeau.

Olsen will also appear as a main character in sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
