FUJI, Shizuoka -- Marutomi Seishi Co., one of the nation's largest producers of toilet paper, has been urging people not to hoard toilet paper by posting photos on its social media depicting large quantities of toilet paper from inside its warehouse.

The paper company in Fuji, Shizuoka Prefecture, ships about 4.8 million rolls of toilet paper or about 600 tons a day nationwide. As of Wednesday, the company had about 10,000 tons of toilet paper at its warehouse.

Since late February, false rumors such as "paper products from China will be embargoed," have been circulating online, causing a serious shortage in toilet paper throughout the country.

"Despite delays in delivery, we have ample stocks of raw materials such as used paper and pulp, and our factories are operating at full capacity," a company official said.
