Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Wednesday, April 15.
Inter linked with summer move to Chelsea
Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez has become the latest name to be linked with Chelsea.
The 22-year-old Argentina international has strongly been linked with joining up with his compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona, but Frank Lampard’s Blues have now appeared as an alternative.
His agent admitted a move to the Camp Nou is a 'very big possibility' for Martinez, who has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season. But with uncertainty over the transfer market and volatility behind the scenes at the La Liga giants, there’s still a chance he could move elsewhere.
Dortmund’s £35m bid for Valencia starlet potentially great news
German outlet Bild, per The Sun, report that Borussia Dortmund have bid £35m for Valencia starlet Ferran Torres, having earmarked the young Spaniard as a replacement for Jadon Sancho.
Sancho has hit new heights this season, registering 14 goals and 15 assists in the Bundesliga, and the reports that Dortmund are eyeing up a replacement suggests that they’re resigned to losing him.
Chelsea would have a battle on their hands to sign Sancho, one of the most in-demand players in European football, but he’s on the record as a boyhood Chelsea fan.
Manchester United have also been heavily linked with signing the 20-year-old England international.
Centre-back alternatives to Boateng
Chelsea have been linked with adding more experience to their backline ahead of next season, with Frank Lampard reportedly keen to compliment his youngsters with an older head.
World Cup and Champions League winner Jerome Boateng has been linked with a Stamford Bridge move, but the Bayern Munich centre-half would command a sizeable fee.
Football.London have taken a look at the alternatives that Chelsea could turn to if they’re to sign an affordable yet dependable defender when the transfer window opens, including Mehdi Benatia, Diego Godin and even Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen.
Take a look to see how Chelsea might look to secure them, and what they’d offer Lampard on the link above.
