Martine McCutcheon says ditching 'crazy diets' led to her remarkable weight loss

Fans are going wild after former EastEnders actress Martine McCutcheon posted a sensational picture of her showing off her incredible figure in a stripy bikini to her Instagram while on holiday with her family.

In the snap, which shows a series of pictures of her family, she is seen holding her seven-year-old son, Rafferty's, hand beside the water. Followers were quick to comment, saying: "Martine you have the most incredible figure". Another said: "Gorgeous photos, and Martine you look incredible".

But getting to her ideal weight hasn't been easy or quick. She previously said she was inspired to lose weight after having her son as well as battling with a number of health problems including ME, fibromyalgia and Lyme Disease - which saw her working with a consultant while on the Cambridge Weight Plan - which focuses on fast results with low calories and the intake of shakes, soups and cereal bars - some years ago.

"My loss was a tiny bit slower than the average person," she previously told HELLO! magazine, "but to be honest I expected that as many diets/food plans didn't work for me at all."

Now, however, she has ditched the restrictive diet, swapping it for a more balanced approach to eating. In an interview with OK! magazine earlier this year, the Love, Actually star, who shares her son Rafferty with her musician husband Jack McManus, explained that she enjoys a healthy 80/20 balance when it comes to fitness and food.

"For 80% of my week, I will have mainly just healthy proteins, vegetables and fruit, organic and veggie juices, and Flora ProActiv spread. And then I’ll have treats 20% of the time."

She added: "I’ll have that slice of pizza, chocolate or a G&T to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I’ll do it because I know that for most of the week, I’ve been doing the good bits for my heart."

She also added: "I think it takes a long time to work out what your own recipe is. It’s taken me such a long time to look through all the stuff that’s out there, and just do what works for me."

She added: "So it’s not as simple as just going on a crazy diet. I just feel like it’s really important to encourage women to just be the best version of themselves."

When it comes to exercise, she told the magazine, her dogs, Fred, Don and Harry, come in handy.

"I walk with my dogs every day – it’s good for my head and my health. Normally I’ll do the school drop-off ready to go in my trainers with the dogs in the back of the car.

"Then I’ll go straight to the forest. When we lived in London, I’d walk to the parks or go on the treadmill in the gym, but it wasn’t as satisfying as it is now.

"Now we live in the Surrey countryside I have a lot more beautiful space around me, where I have that time to breathe. I like to walk for about 40 minutes."
