Martine McCutcheon's son, 7, follows in her footsteps and has first acting audition

Martine McCutheon 's son is seemingly following in his multi-talented mother's footsteps.

The former EastEnders actress, 46, told her fans on Tuesday how she was "so excited" about a future work project and also revealed how her son Rafferty, seven, recently had his first ever audition at school.

Martine, who recently opened up about the death of her brother, explained to her 546,000 Instagram followers how her offspring used George Ezra's music in his bid to impress during the audition.

The Love Actually star added how she "was so proud of him for getting up there and going for it" as she updated her fans about her family life and busy career.

Martine delivered her update alongside a snap of herself looking chic and stylish while posing in front of a door in a fashionable ensemble.

The former soap star wore a white lace skirt, a black turtleneck jumper, leather jacket, and finished off the look with a black beanie hat and platform boots for the snaps shared on Tuesday.

Captioning the pictures on Instagram, Martine wrote: "Today was a good day. I was in London sorting out some work and business and I felt a real sense of achievement and I’m SO excited about a new work venture - And the future generally…

"Rafferty had his first ever audition at school singing and playing piano to George Ezra’s Shotgun - He loves him! We all do. Rafferty said it went well… But he didn’t sing!"

She added: "Huh?! He just played the piano! BUT, he gets another chance on Thursday - But to be honest, I just was so proud of him for getting up there and going for it! I hope you are all well? How was your Tuesday? Sending you all lots of love."

Martine gave birth to Rafferty in February 2015, three years on from tying the knot with singer Jack McManus at Lake Como in September 2012.

Former Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley was one of the many to comment on Martine's cute update, writing: "Love this look on you sir gorgeous xxx."

Martine's first big acting role came about in the 90s, when the star joined the cast of EastEnders and appeared in Albert Square for the first time in 1994.

The star's role as Tiffany Mitchell on the BBC soap cemented her status as a big celebrity - with 22 million viewers tuning in to her final scenes on EastEnders in 1998, when her character for killed off after four years of dramatic storylines.

Playing Hugh Grant's romantic interest in Love Actually, the former soap star's part as tea-lady Natalie in the Richard Curtis festive comedy in 2003 was her first-ever major film role.

Love Actually was a huge success, with both critics and the box office, and Martine took it as her chance to try her luck in America.

A movie career never materialised but she did win the MTV Movie Award for Best Trans-Atlantic Breakthrough Performer and the Empire Award for Best Newcomer at the 9th Empire Awards for her performance in the Christmas classic.
