Martin Tyler makes Gareth Southgate comment after Liverpool's opening goal against Arsenal

Martin Tyler sent a message to England manager Gareth Southgate during Liverpool's 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Two goals from Diogo Jota, with a Mohamed Salah strike in between, sealed the three points for the Reds - who dominated the Gunners in north London.

The win for the Premier League champions takes them up to fifth-place and just two points behind Chelsea, who were beaten 5-2 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Jota, who was a second-half substitute for Jurgen Klopp 's side, was the man who made the difference for Liverpool, but he had a big helping hand from Trent Alexander-Arnold for his first goal.

The right-back picked up the ball on the wing and produced a typical Alexander-Arnold cross, which landed on a plate for Jota, who headed past Bernd Leno.

The Reds defender showed what he is capable of going forward and it was a timely reminder for Southgate, who recently left him out of the England squad for their World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

The decision from the Three Lions boss was one that surprised plenty of people and it is unclear whether Alexander-Arnold will be included in the squad for this summer's Euros.

After the opening goal of the game, Sky Sports commentator Tyler sent a message to Southgate, after Alexander-Arnold's perfect delivery.

“It’s a wonderful cross and it’s produced a goal scoring header, who’s hurt Arsenal again," Tyler said.

"Take a look, Gareth Southgate, it was a wonderful delivery, the header was very good but it was a real chance caused by the trajectory of the cross from the Liverpool right-back.”

It was the right-back's fourth assist of the Premier League season, as Liverpool dismantled Arsenal in the capital.
