Martin Skrtel gives advice to Milan Skriniar amid Liverpool transfer links

Martin Skrtel has given his honest advice to Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar amid reported interest from Liverpool.

Skrtel spent six years at Anfield, but left shortly after Jurgen Klopp took charge of the Reds.

He was also the long-term captain of the Slovakia national team, where he has seen Skriniar come through as a world-class centre-back.

The Inter man is now being linked with a move to Liverpool amid their defensive crisis.

Skriniar has struggled to nail down a starting place at the San Siro this season.

But Skrtel has advised his fellow countryman not to be persuaded by the bright lights of the Premier League.

Instead, the Istanbul Basaksehir veteran insists he would be better off fighting for his place under Antonio Conte as he has already established himself there.

“There are moments in life of every player where things go really well, but there are also moments where things don’t go as planned,” Skrtel told Sport Aktuality.

“When this happens it is important for a player to react. Skriniar is going through something similar to this at Inter.

“In recent games he has lost his role as a starter and there is more and more talk about the fact that he could leave the club. (But) he is still young and he should remain strong and fight for his recovery.

“Although there is the interest of English and Spanish clubs, the best solution for him would be to stay at Inter, where he has built a great name for himself.”
