British photographer Martin Parr is known for his documentary-style photography and his images that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at modern life. His Life’s a Beach series takes viewers to the seaside with close-ups of sunbathers, swimmers caught mid-plunge and sandy picnics underway.
The photos were taken from the shores of Argentina, Brazil, China, Italy, Latvia, Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom. An exhibition, presented by the Australian Centre for Photography and Waverley Council, will be shown at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery to encourage viewers to find the similarities between the beach experience locally and around the world.
