Martin Odegaard pictured training alone as Norway boss targets quick injury recovery

Martin Odegaard trained alone on Thursday as Norway boss Stale Solbakken "hopes" the playmaker will be available for Norway's clash with Turkey on Saturday.

The Arsenal loan star was taken off at half-time in Wednesday's win over Gibraltar.

Odegaard appeared to twist his ankle and, despite his best efforts, was unable to play on.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for the Gunners having made a loan move from Real Madrid in January.

But those in north London will now be sweating on his fitness after he trained alone.

Odegaard was seen on the pitch, but did not engage in any ball work and spent time in the gym instead.

The majority of nations are in the midst of a three-game period and Turkey are Norway's next opponent this weekend.

Solbakken was yet to get the debrief on Odegaard's progress but revealed he would wait until the last minute before deciding whether he is fit enough to play.

"I have not actually talked to Martin about it," the Norway boss told the media.

"He’s had his recovery with his uncle [Norway team physiotherapist Thomas Odegaard], so I don’t have the latest news.

"No decision will be made on that before match day, so we have to wait and see how it develops.

"We hope he will be able to play [against Turkey], but it is a short time in between."

Norway face Montenegro next Tuesday following their clash with Turkey, which will be played in Malaga.

Arsenal's next game is against Liverpool at the Emirates on April 3 before they play Slavia Prague in the Europa League.

Odegaard has been a regular under Mikel Arteta and scored twice in his last three starts.
