Martin Odegaard made Liverpool confession way before Arsenal transfer links

Real Madrid forward Martin Odegaard is certainly one of the most prized assets in Europe at the moment, and he has a connection with Liverpool.

There has been significant excitement around the talented Norwegian international since before he even moved to Santiago Bernabeu in 2015 as a 16 year old.

Now at 22, and several loan spells later, there seems to be a growing feeling that he could depart the La Liga giants either this month or in the summer.

Arsenal are said to be one of the clubs seriously interested in signing him on loan this month, as Mikel Arteta looks to revive the Gunners after a shaky start to the campaign.

While Odegaard still ponders his next move, he has admitted in the past that he has a strong connection with Liverpool.

The Reds are said to be one of the clubs keen on signing him six years ago, but ultimately he chose to sign for Madrid.

However, in an interview he gave during his time with Norwegian club Stromsgodset, Odegaard admitted that Liverpool is his “dream club”, but in the end that did not affect his decision to move to Spain.

"Liverpool have always been my dream club," Odegaard previously told German newspaper Sport Bild, as per the Evening Standard . "But I will not let this affect my decision when I choose a new club.

"It's all about finding the team that is best for me and for my development.

"That is not necessarily Liverpool.

"I haven't really thought about my future yet.

"I will end the season here and then visit a number of clubs. I have not made a final decision yet, though.

"Of course, it's flattering when you hear that big clubs are after you, but I don't think about it too often."
