Martin Odegaard's previous admission about his dream club may alert Arsenal fans.
The Gunners have been tipped to add the attacking midfielder to their first-team squad ahead of the January transfer window closing in less than a fortnight.
Odegaard hasn't been able to nail down a spot in Zinedine Zidane's best Real Madrid XI - making just nine appearances across all competitions so far this season.
As a result, the 22-year-old has reportedly requested to leave on loan so he can play regularly during the first-half of the season and Sport claim a loan deal to Arsenal is close.
With that said, it's not the first time Odegaard has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
As a 15-year-old he was a target for Liverpool, but despite naming them as his dream club, the midfielder didn't let that affect his transfer decision.
"Liverpool have always been my dream club," Odegaard previously told German newspaper Sport Bild, as per the Evening Standard. "But I will not let this affect my decision when I choose a new club.
"It's all about finding the team that is best for me and for my development.
"That is not necessarily Liverpool.
"I haven't really thought about my future yet.
"I will end the season here and then visit a number of clubs. I have not made a final decision yet, though.
"Of course, it's flattering when you hear that big clubs are after you, but I don't think about it too often."
It's not uncommon for players to represent teams they don't support.
And it's not likely to be a factor that could see Arsenal regret their decision to pursue the Norway international.
But should Odegaard eventually end up at the Emirates Stadium, it's almost certain that Liverpool supporters will make sure they remind their Premier League rivals of these particular comments.
