Martin O'Neill names Nottingham Forest team to face Bolton Wanderers

Goalkeeper Luke Steele was handed only his second Championship start for Nottingham Forest as boss Martin O’Neill once again largely kept faith with a winning side.

The Reds manager made just two changes to his starting line-up for the final game of the season against Bolton Wanderers, as his team looked to end the campaign with a third consecutive win.

Shot-stopper Costel Pantilimon dropped to the bench to make way for Steele, while there was no place in the matchday squad for Karim Ansarifard as Lewis Grabban returned to the first XI.

Nottingham Forest fans name a surprise in their team to face Bolton Wanderers

On the back of victories over Middlesbrough and QPR, Forest looked set to stick with a three-man defence against the Trotters.

Yohan Benalouane was available again after suspension but was not included at the City Ground as O’Neill retained the back line of Molla Wague, Alexander Milosevic and Jack Robinson, ahead of Steele.

West Ham United loanee Sam Byram kept his place as the right wing-back, with Ben Osborn retained on the left flank.

Ryan Yates and Matty Cash looked set to once again link up in the centre of the pitch, while Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho also held on to their spots, to support lone striker Grabban.

Where are they now? The Nottingham Forest side defeated by Bolton Wanderers on the final day last season

Meanwhile, there was a return for defender Tobias Figueiredo as he was included among the substitutes, having been sidelined since December through injury.

Adlene Guedioura, Ben Watson, Daryl Murphy, Claudio Yacob and Arvin Appiah completed the bench, alongside Figueiredo and Pantilimon.

Forest: Steele, Wague, Milosevic, Robinson, Byram, Cash, Yates, Osborn, Lolley, Carvalho, Grabban. Subs: Pantilimon, Figueiredo, Guedioura, Watson, Murphy, Yacob, Appiah.
