Martin O'Neill favourite for Celtic job as pressure mounts on Neil Lennon

Martin O'Neill is the bookies favourite to replace under fire Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

Pressure continues to mount on Lennon after a 1-1 draw against St Johnstone today leaves them 13 points behind rivals Rangers.

Celtic have only registered two wins in their last 13 games, and sections of the Parkhead faithful have lost confidence in the 49-year-old.

Lennon said after the match: "I know the players and there is definitely a lack of confidence there, in themselves as individuals and in each other.

"We need to get that back, because it’s there, they can play, they proved that last year but this season it’s been a struggle for them and whether it’s a lack of attitude or a lack of desire; there is bits and pieces that I’ve seen that you can’t change overnight, but I want to.

"As far as the season goes we are making it very, very difficult for ourselves to get back into it."

Now Paddy Power are going as low as 5/4 that Lennon will be replaced in the Celtic hotseat by former manager O'Neill.

Ex-Ireland boss O'Neill has been out of a job since a short stint in charge of Nottingham Forest last year.

But it remains to be seen if he would consider a return to Glasgow, especially as he is a close friend of Lennon, with the current Hoops boss having played under O'Neill at both Leicester City and Celtic.

O'Neill's former assistant boss Roy Keane has drifted out to 7/1 in the betting. Hibs boss Jack Ross is a close second favourite for the job at 2/1.
