Martin Murray determined to win world title for late trainer Oliver Harrison

When Martin Murray returns to his corner after the first round tonight it will be to listen to the advice of Jamie Moore.

But the two men will undoubtedly feel the presence of a third, the late Oliver Harrison, Murray's erstwhile trainer who passed away last year.

You would do well to find a deeper bond in boxing than the one between Murray and Harrison who guided his charge to four world title fights only to fall short on each occasion.

Murray can rightly claim to have beaten Felix Sturm in Germany and Sergio Martinez in Argentina before losing to Gennady Golovkin and Arthur Abraham.

The odds will be stacked against him again tonight when he takes on Billy Joe Saunders behind closed doors at Wembley Arena.

But if Murray can somehow produce a career-best performance, there will only be one man on his mind.

"It's all for Oliver," he told Mirror Fighting . "Jamie and Nigel [Travis] are legends and I love the pair of them.

They're very intelligent trainers, especially Jamie having been there and done it.

"When I was with Oliver it was always about winning a world title and dedicating it to him and so for him not be here, it makes it more special.

"There's only one person it's about on Friday, obviously it's about me and my family, but there's only one person it's getting dedicated to."

Moore turned his hand to training after his own successful career and now has Carl Frampton, Jack Catterall and Chantelle Cameron on his books.

And when Harrison lost his battle with cancer at the age of 59, it was Moore who stepped in.

Murray added: "Me and Jamie have been close for years. I first went to Oliver's in 2007 and Jamie was there. We've always kept in touch and in 2016 i was struggling with my motivation and Jamie started coming to help out.

"When everything happened with Oliver, it was the natural progression to go with Jamie, wouldn't have gone anywhere else. We have the same type of bond we had with Oliver.

"Even though it's not been a nice experience, I can share it with someone who can relate because they're feeling the same."
