Martin Lewis warns 800,000 people could miss out on £7,500 one-off payments

Martin Lewis has warned that time is running out for people to claim £7,500 coronavirus grants.

The grants could provide cash relief to millions of Brits after the UK was put on lockdown in March.

But people will need to be quick in order to claim the grant, Birmingham Live reports.

Millions of pounds in grants will go begging unless the 800,000 people who have yet to apply get their requests for a Covid-19 grant in by midnight, Monday.

The money is a one-off payment and 800,000 Brits are eligible, Martin Lewis told his ITV1 show The Martin Lewis Money Show.

On Thursday's episode, Martin said only 2.7million of the 3.5million eligible people have applied.

"After Monday - no go, can't happen," Martin told those viewing at home.

"The key question is if your business has been affected," he said, giving advice to self-employed Brits.

"So if you can put your hand on your hearts and say, yes, it's been worse, then sign the declaration, get the money."

The money is owed to self-employed Brits and if you are eligible, HMRC should have been in touch.

But with 800,000 people missing out, Martin is urging you to head to the government website and apply - check your eligibility online and cash in.
