Martin Lewis warns 7 million people are missing out on benefits

Martin Lewis has claimed up to 7 million people in the UK could be missing out on benefits.

The Money Saving Expert made the claim during yesterday's edition of This Morning. Martin was issuing advice to callers as people across the UK continue to struggle due to the cost-of-living crisis.

The finance guru received a call from a tearful mum-of-two named Julie, who was in £5,000 debt across two credit cards. Martin urged the caller to use the MSE's Benefit's calculator see if she was entitled to any further support.

He said: "I'd be going on to a benefits calculator looking at your situation both now and when you go back to work. They take about 10 minutes, they give you an idea of whether you're getting everything you're entitled to.

The finance guru broadened his call to everyone watching as he revealed there are up to 7 million people in the country who are not getting what they are entitled to. He added: "Just for everybody else watching, my rough rule of thumb is if you have family income, especially if you've got kids, under £30,000 it is absolutely worth spending 10 minutes on a benefits check-up calculator.

"I'm not saying you'll be entitled to anything, but I'm saying that's my equation for when it's worth it. In fact, some people with family income in rare circumstances of up to £50,000 can be entitled to something."
