Martin Lewis' Valentine's Day gift and spending warning

The founder of Money Saving Expert has warned people about buying Valentine’s Day gifts.

Martin was keen to point out there's "no need to spend for Valentine's Day" on February 14 and warned viewers not to "fall to that commercial peer pressure."

The financial guru warned his viewers on last week’s The Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV1, reports Birmingham Live..

He said: "If you are spending, a lot of things are actually cheaper to do this week rather than next week."

He continued: "For example, couriered roses will cost you £25 at Marks and Spencer and similar prices elsewhere. You might not be able to get them next week so a little bit of planning helps."

Sharing another piece of advice, Martin added: "We can't always see people these days so if you want to send them a card, the Card Factory's personalised photocards start at £1.79 including delivery.

"That's not bad when you consider the price of a stamp, and you can put your own photo on that."

The Martin Lewis Money Show airs each Thursday at 8.30pm with episodes available on the ITV Hub, a streaming platform provided by the broadcaster.

Mr Lewis also writes a weekly award winning MSE email to subscribers each week.
