Martin Lewis urges people to check if overpaying broadband by up to £200 a year

Whether you're a new customer or are looking to upgrade your current broadband package, Money Saving Expert (MSE) has urged people to search around for the best deals.

It comes as the cost of living crisis has seen bills soar for millions across the UK with experts handing out advice on how to save.

Just recently people have been urged to save up to £700 by the end of the year if they follow the 1p challenge, backed by MSE themselves.

They explain that it should only take a few minutes and you could considerably cut down your monthly payments, with around seven million possibly paying and out of contract.

So how can you tell if you're on a good deal or not? Here's what you need to know.

Cheap broadband deals - how to find the best deal

You can visit the dedicated broadband checker on the MSE website here.

Simply click on the link and tick the boxes that apply to you such as whether you need phone, TV, broadband, or all of them.

They also have a list of broadband deals with the likes of Vodafone and Virgin Media's fibre option being the best at present.

Are you on Universal Credit? You could get cheaper broadband

If you're on universal credit or similar benefits, it could be worth checking your eligibility for any special social broadband deals.

MSE say that there are "four million people eligible, but only a small proportion are on these special, long-lasting cheap deals."

You can see their list of discounted social broadband tariffs.
