Martin Lewis urges PayPal customers to check accounts fast or miss free cash

Martin Lewis has told PayPal users to check their accounts after the firm distributed £1million to random users.

The online payments giant is handing out what it calls "golden tickets" worth between £5 and £50 - but people only have a limited time to claim then.

The  money saving expert  is urging customers to check their account to see if they have won any of the cash.

And it couldn't be easier to find out if you are a lucky recipient. All you have to do is log into your account and see if you've been allocated one of the "Golden Tickets."

Martin admitted your chances of the winning are fairly slim - at around 1% - but with checking costing so little effort, it would be a waste not to.

If you've been lucky, the amount will be added to your PayPal credit and will be applied to your next PayPal spend automatically.

But, crucially, you need to spend it by 11.59pm on Mon 30 September, or your prize money will disappear.

It's valid on any online purchases through PayPal so long as it's in British pounds, with a few exceptions there's no minimum spend and you don’t have to use it all in one go - so you could choose to spend it in multiple smaller transactions.
