Martin Lewis urgently warns 800,000 are missing out on £7,500 one-off payments

Finance guru Martin Lewis has issued an urgent warning to the public.

Up and down the country, the MoneySavingExpert founder urged people to apply for a cash grant as a deadline is fast approaching.

The money whizz has been providing regular financial updates during the coronavirus pandemic and has taken his ITV show The Martin Lewis Money Show into his home to continue advising the public.

In his episode last night, he said there was almost no time left for people to claim £7,500 in a coronavirus grant, Birmingham Live reports.

The grants could be a lifeline for many Brits facing financial uncertainty during these unprecedented times.

But the deadline could see millions of pounds left unclaimed if the eligible 800,000 people don't get their requests in on time.

Claimants have until midnight on Monday, July 13 to submit their request.

Martin Lewis told his The Martin Lewis Money Show viewers yesterday evening that the money is a one-off payment, with 800,000 Brits eligible.

But Martin said only 2.7million of the 3.5million eligible people have applied for the grant so far.

Martin said: "After Monday - no go, can't happen."

Addressing self-employed viewers, he added: "The key question is if your business has been affected.

"So if you can put your hand on your hearts and say, yes, it's been worse, then sign the declaration, get the money."

The money is owed to self-employed people and if you are eligible, HMRC should have been in touch.

Martin issued the warning to those 800,000 at risk of missing out.

You can check your eligibility by visiting the government website and applying.
