Martin Lewis shares urgent coronavirus travel update for those with holidays booked

Martin Lewis has issued a travel update for those worried about coronavirus.

The money saving expert appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss cancellation rights. You can see a list of the latest cancelled flights here.

Speaking to Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid on the ITV show, Martin said: "Everybody, now, if you've got travel booked find out what your cancellation rights are.

"When is the last time if you've got free cancellation you can cancel? Put it in your diary in a big red mark so that you know whether you're going to be able to call up.

"If you can cancel for free and it looks like you won't be able to travel, on the last day cancel for free."

Martin had different advice, however, for those who are not entitled to free cancellation.

He explained: "If you can't cancel for free and you will lose all your money, don't cancel, then leave it and, if you can't go, hope that by that time the Foreign Office has said you can't go so your travel insurance will be impacted. You see the division of strategy?"

He also discussed travel insurance and told people if they didn't have it yet to get it urgently as travel insurers "are starting to change and limiting what's available."

Martin also reminded ITV viewers that if the Foreign Office hasn't put a travel ban on a country but you don't want to go or the country has travel restrictions in place, in most cases you won't be covered.

If you find yourself in this situation Martin referred back to cancellation rights and reminded viewers to check when and if they can cancel for free.

He also pointed out that things are evolving and changing quickly so always double-check the terms and conditions.
