Martin Lewis shares money-saving hack for booking a cheaper summer holiday

Martin Lewis is the nation's go-to for money-saving advice, tips and tricks.

The financial guru has his own website, Money Saving Expert, and regularly appears on ITV shows such as This Morning and Good Morning Britain to help viewers organise their finances.

And the latest advice on the 47-year-old's website is an updated article on how to beat the school holiday travel price hikes.

It's a well known fact that when term ends, holiday packages and flights tend to rocket, much to the dismay of parents and teachers across the nation.

But rather than fork out a fortune, Martin Lewis has shared some simple tricks that could majorly help families out.

Mainly, it's about being savvy with your booking dates.

According to Martin, every so often, some school's term dates differ from the rest and could mean "huge savings."

Check yours, being careful to mark inset days, and if it breaks up a little earlier than everyone else's you may be able to find cheaper holidays.

It's also worth noting that booking later in the school holidays could save you some cash.

ABTA told Money Saving Expert that prices rapidly drop at the end of August/early September.

The website pointed out: "Being flexible is key though. Late deals can be cheaper, so if you're booking in, say, late June, July may be cheaper than the last two weeks of August."
