Martin Lewis shares important shopping hack that could save you hundreds of pounds

Martin Lewis has shared an important shopping hack that could save customers hundreds of pounds.

Following the New Year, the financial guru offered some helpful advice on his money saving show.

One of the main topics of concern for viewers was shopping refunds and rights.

Martin was told by one woman how she'd bought a tweed jacket at a store for £225 on an impulse buy - but when she tried to return it an hour later, she was told she couldn't have a refund.

The Money Saving Expert unfortunately had bad news for her, as legally she had no right to be given a refund.

He explained how this catches out many people every day and issued his advice.

First of all, Martin revealed that by purchasing goods online, you actually have more rights - this is due to the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

These give a legal right of 14 days to cancel the order after receiving it, and a further 14 days to send most goods back for a full refund (including outward delivery costs), even if there's no fault.

But when you but something in store, shops are under no obligation to take your goods back, just because you've changed your mind.

If something is faulty however, you will be entitled to a full refund in most cases, from a reasonable time to a fixed period (in most cases) of 30 days.
