Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis revealed all his need-to-knows about Christmas shopping in his big briefing in the last show of the year.
Speaking on his ITV show the Martin Lewis Money Show Live on Thursday night (December 9) he shared common mistakes shoppers make.
The list included:
- No legal right to return store-bought goods unless faulty - he explained it's a common misconception, though most stores will allow returns
- Giving a gift - Get gift receipts, or write on receipts at till
- Return items bought ONLINE even if not faulty - notify within 14 days - then 14 days more to return
- Key dates for free or cheapest Christmas online orders: Currys Dec 15, M&S Dec 18, Selfridges Dec 19, ASOS Dec 20, Amazon Prime and Argos Dec 23
He then moved on to his winter worries list:
- Know where your stopcock is in your home - don't wait until you have a flooding issue to use it
- Now is the time to look at breakdown policies and cut the costs
- If your energy price fix is ending - should you fix it again - Martin Lewis says no, do nothing
The money savings guru also spoke about best buys that have got better, highlighting savings accounts, shifting existing card debt to zero-per-cent balance transfer.
He then highlighted all the help available for those worried about debt.
