Martin Lewis shares his 'lost pension' hack that could be worth thousands

Martin Lewis was back for his 100th money-saving show on ITV with some new financial hacks.

Instead of his usual big briefing, Martin gave a whole host of top tips - including some pension advice.

One viewer, Gary, contacted Martin to ask about tracing pensions from previous employers.

He asked: “Is there any way to find lost pensions that may have been done in the past but have no paperwork?"

Luckily for Gary, Martin revealed that he could trace his pensions, which could be worth thousands, using a very simple method, reports WalesOnline.

Martin's tip was to use the Government's free Pension Tracing Service to try and track down any errant savings which you may have.

You simply put in your old employer's details and it will tell you who to contact to find out if you have a pension.

Martin said: “It's worth doing because staggering though it is there are some people who lose track of pensions worth tens, or even hundreds of thousands of pounds, so if you're not sure it's definitely worth checking that out."

Also during the half-hour programme, Martin revealed how to avoid the upcoming £100 energy bill rise, how to get up to £10 free at Sainsbury’s just by opening the Nectar app, how HMRC taxpayers can avoid the late fee penalty ahead of the February 28 filing deadline and how to track down lost pensions, which could be worth thousands of pounds.
