Martin Lewis shares health update as fans rush to offer their support

Beloved financial guru Martin Lewis has taken to social media with concerns about his health, appealing for fan suggestions as to what his mystery illness could be.

Taking to Twitter yesterday (8 June), Martin said: "Still got this bloomin lurgy, high temperature, hot and cold flushes and achy. Not Covid. No cough. No cold.

"Anyone else had something similar? (barring Mrs MSE, who's also now got it - so clearly its contagious). How long does it take to end - I'm on day 3."

The Twitter post to his 1.5million followers sparked more than 1,400 replies, with many fans and fellow celebrities rushing to support him.

One said: "So sorry Are you swabbing your throats as well as your noses? Even with nasal only LFTs? Usually gives a more accurate idea, if Covid. Otherwise there was a sort of five day cold about.."

Dragons' Den star Deborah Meaden also commented: “Uho…hope you get better soon."

Another wrote: "How do you know it's not Covid? If you're testing with LFTs they aren't 100% reliable. Plenty have felt the same and got a positive result only after several days."

Martin Lewis replied: "OK fair enough instead of not Covid I should've said 'repeated negative LFTs (done thoroughly)' but frankly I'm not feeling well and so really not on it!"

A third person commented: "And constantly waking up during the night hot." Martin told him: "Yes that's the biggest problem! drives me nuts."

Another said: "I think it's what I brought back home from London recently. I've Covid tests, but for a few days was sure they were wrong. I've had Covid twice and have 'mild' long Covid. Virus symptoms eased around day 5, but now diagnosed with pericarditis (hospital Dr thinks it's related)."

Another asked: “Will you get your steps in?” Martin then jokingly replied: “I’m very concerned about that."

Martin’s health update comes after his wife Lara, 43, worried fans when she revealed she had been involved in an accident on her electric scooter that forced her to take a week off work.

The host of the BBC’s technology programme, Click, shared a selfie, with large red cuts on her head, lip and nose and admitted she was an 'extremely clumsy person'.
