Martin Lewis shares easy way to save £55 a year on heating bills

Martin Lewis has shared what is possibly the easiest and quickest way to save money on your energy bills and it is something everyone with a central heating system should do as soon as possible to start reaping the rewards.

It doesn’t matter if the heat coming out of your radiator is supplied by gas or electricity, the consumer champion’s simple adjustment will work for everyone.

Martin told viewers during his Money Show Live TV programme that simply turning the thermostat down by one degree will save the average energy user an impressive £55 over the course of a year on their fuel bill.

Martin told viewers: “If you turn your thermostat down a degree that’s roughly a four per cent reduction in your energy use over a year [which is] £55 for somebody on typical use.”

The financial guru also explained how if you reduce your shower time by just one minute you can save around two per cent on your energy bills, the equivalent to about £30 per year for someone on typical use.

Martin also shared some green-energy money-saving tips to tie-in with the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) taking place in Glasgow until November 12, to help everyone play their small part in helping to save the planet.
