Martin Lewis shares 20p hack that slashes McDonald's meal prices in half

MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis has shared a crucial piece of advice that can cut the price of a McDonald's meal in half for just 20p.

The personal finance guru went on ITV's This Morning to share the tip - which could save you some serious cash.

The best bit of all is there is no limit to how many times you can use it.

All you have to do is go on the McDonald's Food For Thoughts website and fill in a survey about your last meal.

You will need a receipt for that meal - but you can get one just by spending 20p on a sweet curry dip in a McDonald's branch.

You'll then get a five-digit code when you leave the review.

If you write that down on your original receipt, you can use that as a voucher.

When you go back into a McDonald's, give staff that receipt and you can get a half-price Big Mac and fries.

These normally cost £4.79, so you save up to £2.80.

Lewis said: "You'll never pay the £4 for the Big Mac and fries."

If you don't want a Big Mac you can swap it out for a Filet-o-Fish or Veggie Deluxe. You are also free to swap the chips for a salad if you prefer.

The best bit of all is you can then review that meal to get another code, and get another half-price meal.

Earlier this month McDonald's announced it was giving NHS workers 20% off its entire menu for the rest of the year as a gesture of thanks for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

The fast food giant is offering the generous deal as a token of thanks to these workers for their work over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, and beyond.

The discount can be used once per week by eligible customers. But the deal is available exclusively on the My McDonald’s App.

The app has been introduced in a pilot with the delivery giant, and marks the first time McDonald’s has offered UK customers a fully in-app delivery ordering option.

Its bosses say it has introduced the app pilot with Uber, as customers are increasingly opting for delivery and takeaway options instead of dining in following the year of lockdowns.

Earlier this week McDonald's unveiled five new products in the UK.
