Martin Lewis sets record straight on whether he will be permanent host on GMB

Martin Lewis has received an outpouring of support from fans as he stepped in to host Good Morning Britain.

The money-saving expert is the latest person to sit alongside Susanna Reid following Piers Morgan's departure from the show.

Other presenters who have stepped in to co-host in Piers’ absence include Richard Madeley, Adil Ray, Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway and Alastair Campbell.

Martin will appear on the show from Monday through to Wednesday this week before Adil Ray returns as co-host - but fans are calling for him to be a permanent replacement for the role.

One fan tweeted: "I do like Martin Lewis on here, concise, clear, and asking pertinent questions. He’s a breath of fresh air."

Another said: "#gmb Martin Lewis should be a permanent replacement. He just seems more "on it" so to speak."

A third said: "I like Martin Lewis on @GMB stop faffing with other people and just give him the job x."

Another fan decided to ask Martin directly whether he would take the job on full time if he was asked, to which the money-saving expert replied: "No. My role is saving people money.

"I'm very flattered to have been asked to guest present. I enjoyed it today.

"And if the week goes well I'd be happy to do holiday cover and pop back a few times a year, yet my normal mission takes priority, so wouldn't/can't do it full time.:)"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
