Martin Lewis's advice on beating the latest Virgin Media price hike

Martin Lewis has warned Virgin Media customers that their prices will soon be going up.

And the money saving expert is advising people on how to beat the latest price hike.

Customers started to receive letters on July 1 informing them of a price increase to their subscriptions by up to £54 per year from September or October, Liverpool Echo report.

Virgin hasn’t released a full list of price changes, but most customers will see rises of between £2.50 to £4.50 per month.

Martin revealed that if you're unhappy with the price hike, you can leave your contract without paying any early termination charges.

He said that you'll need to contact Virgin Media within 30 days of receiving your notification of the increase.

Martin said it's also worth checking to see whether your current deal is the cheapest out there, rather than "leaving in a huff".

But if you're wanting to stay with Virgin Media and you believe the price isn't right, now is the time to haggle.

Martin said that in a poll run a couple of months ago of MoneySavingExpert, 75 percent of Virgin customers who tried to haggle got a discount.
