Martin Lewis has stressed he can’t present Good Morning Britain full time.
The popular presenter impressed on his debut on the breakfast show alongside stalwart presenter Susanna Reid.
But the 49-year-old has admitted he hasn’t got the time to be Piers Morgan’s permanent successor.
Martin has been inundated with congratulatory comments and questions on social media after making his GMB debut.
However, when one fan enquired if he would take the job on a permanent basis, Martin swiftly replied: “No. My role is saving people money.”
Martin added: “I'm very flattered to have been asked to guest present. I enjoyed it today.
“And if the week goes well I’d be happy to do holiday cover and pop back a few times a year yet my normal mission takes priority, so wouldn't/can't do it full time. :)”
Martin’s bubbly personality shone through on his first-ever show and one funny segment had viewers in stitches.
Amazingly on his opening morning, the Money Saving Expert guru Martin went AWOL.
The experienced host got caught short on a toilet break and was late back to the studio for when the show went live.
An amused Susanna was seen smiling as Martin bounded back into the studio and admitted:
“I don’t know what I said,” joked Susanna.
Martin headed back to his desk and said: “I was thinking I’d walk, I’d go.
“But the truth is people, when you’re new to a job, and you’ve been drinking tea since 7 o’clock this morning.
“And then you can’t fine the loo in the ad-break, you might occasionally be late back to your desk
Martin joked: “Move on Susanna, help me.”
“TMI [Too Much Information] Martin, TMI,” responded Susanna. “Look, we’ve got an issue with people leaving the studio on this programme, so I’m glad you’re back.”
To which Martin and his colleagues all started laughing and Susanna cheekily grinned after referring to Piers’ legendary exit that dominated the headlines.
Martin, who also hosts his own ITV consumer show, thanked Susanna and the rest of the GMB team for making him feel so welcome.
And on his official Twitter account later penned: “My first of three @gmb guest presenting shifts this week done.
“I hope it worked for you, bit of a baptism of fire @susannareid100 and the team very generous with their help and support.”
Martin’s appearances this week have been widely welcomed by fans this week, many whom have congratulated the presenter on his starting run on the show.
One viewer said: “Only 20 minutes in, but Martin Lewis on #GMB seems a breath of fresh air?”
Another added: “I like Martin Lewis on @GMB stop faffing with other people and just give him the job.”
While a third gushed: “I do like Martin Lewis on here, concise, clear, and asking pertinent questions. He’s a breath of fresh air #GMB”.
Martin is the latest presenter to be used by broadcaster ITV, with Alastair Campbell and Richard Madeley having been given chances at the sought-after breakfast gig.
