The Money Saving Expert founder warned that the measures announced by the chancellor were not enough to pull struggling families out of the red. The cost of living crisis is only going to get worse.

Speaking to 5 Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake, the money mogul said: “It's going to be a bleak winter for most people in terms of bills. What he (Sunak) has done today is not enough to stop that being bleak.”
Nihal asked Martin if he had "ever felt more powerless" with his tools and money saving advice during his nearly 20-year career. Mr Lewis replied: "No."
He added: “The market is broken. What on earth are we meant to tell people and I know Citizens Advice feel the same way. There are many people… Put me in charge of their house and their budget and I could not balance their household finances.”
Yesterday, Martin posted his 'instant instinctive response' to the statement in a four minute clip which he shared to his Twitter. In the clip, he explained key points and what it means for you off back the of the spring statement. He shared the top five points from the statement that would affect people's personal finances.
