Martin Lewis' MSE issues four day warning to anyone who shops at Asda and Lidl

The Money Saving Expert (MSE) website has warned Asda and Lidl shoppers they only have a few days left to get money off their supermarket bill.

The Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis informed viewers on his ITV show on Tuesday that Asda and Lidl were offering £5 vouchers but only for a certain amount of time.

The Money Saving Expert newsletter also reminded customers of the offers telling and told them they only had until Tuesday, February 28 to claim them.

This means, from today shoppers only have four days to make use of the discounts.

Both supermarkets are offering the £5 vouchers through their apps, for Asda, it is through Asda Rewards, and for Lidl, it's through Lidl Plus.

Here is everything you need to know about claiming and using the money off vouchers:

Asda

According to the Money Saving Expert newsletter, new Asda Rewards app members can get a £5 voucher in their "Cashpot" after they complete their first online or in-store purchase.

Once you have downloaded the app or signed up, you will need to scan the "First Scan Bonus" reward under the "earn tab" on your next Asda shop.

The £5 voucher will then turn up in your "Cashpot".

You can claim the voucher until 11.59pm on Tuesday 28 February, so you'll need to do your first shop by then.

However, the good news about this voucher is that it can be used at any point over the next six months so you don't have to rush to spend it.

Asda told the experts at the Martin Lewis website that there is no minimum spend required to get the reward.

This means you can buy something cheap like a loose banana or a packet of chewing gum and still claim the £5 rewards voucher.

With Asda Rewards, you build up "pounds not points" in your Cashpot which you then convert into vouchers.

Vouchers can be made with as little as £1 and the maximum is £100.

To spend your voucher instore, you will need to scan it as you go through the checkout and if you want to spend it online you will need to link your Asda Rewards app with your Asda online shop, you can do this be having the same email address for both.

Your vouchers will then be automatically applied to your online shop.

If you have more than one voucher in your account, the oldest dated voucher will be used first.

You can use your voucher for anything apart from kiosk items, petrol, pharmacy, third-party or ASDA gift cards and infant formula.

Lidl

If you have the Lidl Plus app, you can get a voucher for £5 off when you spend £25 in-store from 00.01 on Wednesday 22 February.

To claim the voucher, from Wednesday 22, you can log into or sign up to the Lidl Plus app, you will then then "Redeem Code" button and enter the code "FEELGOOD".

After doing this, the £5 voucher will then be displayed in the "Coupons" section of the app.

To get the cash, you will need to activate the voucher before you scan your Lidl Plus app at the till.

You'll also have to show the coupon live within the app and sadly screenshots, pictures or printouts won't be accepted.

You will have to spend over £25 in-store to get the £5 off and a few items, such as alcohol, infant formula and gift cards will not count towards your £25 spend.

Lidl has one million of these vouchers to claim and it is first come first serve so you will need to be quick when claiming.

You also only have until Tuesday, February 28 to spend the voucher so again you will need to plan on doing a Lidl shop sooner rather than later.
