Martin Lewis jokes about 'trouble' with wife as she appears on Channel 4 show

Martin Lewis admitted to there being 'trouble' between him and his wife after she made an appearance on a Channel 4 show.

People will be used to seeing the money expert making regular TV appearances but his other half just so happens to be fellow broadcaster Lara Lewington.

She is the co-presenter of the BBC's technology programme, Click, and has also worked as a showbiz correspondent for Five News and Sky News among other roles.

But it appears there's a rule in the Lewis household that Martin has now broken.

Ahead of Lara's appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch with Sreph McGovern on Channel 4, the MoneySavingExpert.com founder tweeted: "I'm going to be in trouble.

"Mrs MSE is doing a slot on Steph's packed lunch today - she usually tells me that I'm not allowed to watch her (Mrs mse not Steph), however, she forgot to expressly prohibit it today, so I've turned it on!"

The show recognised Martin tuning in and replied: "Hi Martin," alongside a waving emoji.

Fans were also quick to comment.

"So, you are exploiting a loophole? Shame on you, Martin. The couch it is then," one joked.

Another said: "Sshh! We won't tell her if you don't."

"You'll be alright, admitting it, in public, here on Twitter, as long as she doesn't have a Twitter account!.....oops, except she has," a third added.

But Lara herself hasn't acknowledged her husband's tweet publicly.

She tweeted earlier today: "All set to test some winter gadgets on @PackedLunchC4, with a spot of help from @denise_vanouten and @russell_kane.

"Yup, the geek’s hanging with the cool kids."

Martin and Lara married in 2009 and welcomed their daughter Sapphire into the world three years later.
