Martin Lewis issues urgent warning to anyone self-employed with just two weeks to act

Martin Lewis has issued a warning to all self-employed workers across the country.

The message comes amid fears of a "sink hole" as a result of changes to Universal Credit next month.

The financial guru is renowned for giving tips on how to save cash on his ITV show The Martin Lewis Money Show.

He is also a regular on daytime favourites such as This Morning and Good Morning Britain.

But today, Martin has taken to social media to give a warning to anybody who is self-employed, reports the Birmingham Mail.

He tweeted: On 13 Nov, there is a huge sink hole awaiting many self-employed as Rishi Sunak's Covid suspension of the Uni Credit min income floor ends."

Mr Lewis then clarified: "This means self employed will be assumed to have earnings for Universal Credit calc even if they don't."

He added: "I would suggest self-employed contact their MP asap."

The tweet has racked up hundreds of retweets and likes.

One Twitter user replied: "Was dreading this. After 15 years of employment I used savings to start my business in Aug '19.. classed as 'newly self employed' so not eligible for support other than £94 a week Universal Credit ..(Takings are down 75 per cent on this time last year)."

They added: "Now that being taken away too. Devastated."

"Feel so sorry for you and everyone else who took a "leap of faith" in 2019 & started their own businesses..." a second added.
