Martin Lewis issues one important piece of advice ahead of Black Friday

Black Friday is nearly upon us, with just three weeks to go until the big event on Friday, November 26.

Every year, millions of pounds are spent in stores in the streets and online in time for Christmas to try and grab a bargain.

Money saving expert, Martin Lewis has been giving shoppers his best piece of advice ready for the big day.

Many have proved previously that some "deals" that happen on Black Friday aren't actually deals and you could have got them cheaper months ago.

And now Martin Lewis has been giving out his tips on what people should do to get the best possible deal, Birmingham Live reports.

He said: "Quick Tip. Got anything you're planning to buy during #BlackFriday promotions? Go and do a price check now, so you have a benchmark to see if it is really cheaper when it is 'discounted'".

He then went onto discuss the types of deals that are on offer and what to look out for after one user pointed out retailers "sell junk" they couldn't sell previously.

He added: "It depends on the Black Friday offer type. The best are 30 - 50% off everything codes / discounts - which work well.

"The problem is the 'special item' discounts which tend to be the tat".

Most Black Friday deals tend to run right through to Cyber Monday, which falls on November 29, so you'll have plenty of time to pick up the deals on offer.

In recent years Black Friday has grown into a month-long affair with many major retailers choosing to launch deals a few weeks ahead of the official date.

This gives shoppers a longer period to pick up the amazing deals.
