Martin Lewis is urging anyone with a car to make one simple change to slash petrol costs

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has urged all drivers to make a simple change to slash the price of petrol.

On last night's Martin Lewis Money Show - which aired before I'm A Celeb on ITV - he was asked for advice on how to cut the cost of petrol and diesel.

Aside from recommending people to walk, Martin suggested motorists try a comparison website.

He also gave a driving hack on how to reduce petrol consumption.

Martin said: "The real thing I'd suggest is petrolprices.com is a website which shows you the cheapest petrol stations in an area near to you.

"So it's worth having a look at that.

"And also think about how you drive, remember every time you put your foot down on the accelerator, you're effectively burning fuel, every time you brake, you're getting rid of the money you've paid to put in the car to keep it going.

"So road positioning, speed up more slowly, not your maximum speed and that you slow down more gradually.

"Of course you brake when you need to brake for safety."

He added: "All of that can make a massive impact on the amount of petrol that you use.

"But there's no magic wand on that one I'm afraid."
