Martin Lewis has explained how people can get a lump sum handed to them for home improvements from the Government.
The scheme launched yesterday - offering up to £5,000 of free money to cover two-thirds of the cost of green home improvement - or possibly double that.
"Some people on benefits can get up to £10,000 and the whole cost covered," he told viewers of ITV's Martin Lewis Money Show.
He pointed out that it's only for England, and owner occupiers - including leasehold and shared ownership homes.
There are two things you can get the grants for.
The first is a primary improvements.
These are things like insulation for walls or low carbon heat - for example thermal solar panels, a biomass boiler or a ground source heat pump.
"This must be new or on top of what you've got, it can't be a replacement for something you have already," Martin said.
Once that's done, you can get up to the same amount again for a secondary improvments.
These are things like draught proofing, double glazing or new heating controls or thermostatic radiator valves.
But there were problems.
First, you need to use a local tradesman - and they can be in short supply for some works, for example ground source heat pumps.
Secondly, you only have six months to complete the work to qualify.
"One of the crucial criteria is that all the works have to be completed in six months time," Martin added.
These two factors combined mean many people are struggling.
But that wasn't the only issue it.
"One of the problems here is that there is only £2billion of funding available," Martin said.
"So if you wait to install, you may well miss the boat.
"Equally, if you can't get an installer in your area, it's very frustrating."
But while tracking down a registered workman could be a problem, he was sure on one thing.
"Don't let that stop you applying," Martin said.
