Martin Lewis explains how shoppers in Scotland can get £184 'free' from a supermarket

Martin Lewis has explained how Scots could bag £184 of the free goods from Sainsbury's using a rewards card.

Scots who have a rewards gold card from American Express could get points worth £184 to spend at the supermarket.

But Lewis explained there is one catch, with a requirement to spend at least £3,000 in the first three months of having the card to get the points.

Speaking on his ITV show The Martin Lewis Money Show, the money guru said: "This is how to get serious shopping at Sainsbury's.

"It’s about the American Express rewards gold credit card.

"If you’re accepted for that and you spend £3,000 on it in three months then you get 23,000 Amex reward points, which includes a 20,000 point bonus."

But if your normal spending is less than £1,000, Martin Lewis said you probably shouldn't do it.

American Express says that you'll be able to redeem the 23,000 points for a voucher worth £100 at Amazon, but there's also a loophole that allows you to swap the points for Nectar points.

First, you'll need to convert the 23,000 Amex points for 23,000 Avios with British Airways before converting them into 36,800 Nectar points.

Those points are worth £184, and you can use them anywhere Nectar points are accepted at Sainsbury's, Argos and Curries.

Martin Lewis is famous for helping people save hundreds of pounds, and he often uses his ITV money show to point out hidden loopholes.
