Martin Lewis deletes 'upsetting' comment about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has explained why he deleted his 'upsetting' comments about the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview with Oprah which aired on ITV last night.

The finance expert removed the 'joke' he'd shared after he discovered it had upset people.

Now Martin has explained what happened.

"Earlier I jokingly wrote "Anything on telly?" feigning ignorance of the yr's most high profile TV. Many found it funny," he said.

"A few misread as aimed to diminish impact of interview's themes, incl racism. V far from my intent.

"Even 1 unwittingly upset is too many. So I've deleted."

Dozens of followers rushed to his side after deleting the tweet, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

"You shouldn’t feel you have to do that. You didn’t do anything wrong at all," one said.

Martin replied: "I didn't feel I had to do that. I wanted to do it. A very nice woman on here was upset by it," he said.

"If it can be read that way, I don't want a part of it.

"It's important to stand up against perceived racism, even when you're unwittingly the culprit."
