Martin Lewis fought back tears as he spoke about the loss of his mother when he was just 11-years-old.
The Money Saving Expert told the Loose Women panel how her tragic death still deeply affected him and he finds it still too difficult to talk about.
The 46-year-old discussed the launch of the child bereavement charity Grief Encounter’s new helpline on the ITV show.
It is hoped that 'grief talk' will give children suffering the loss of a parent or family member somewhere to open up about their grief, whether it be over the phone, by text or even by online chat.
Martin is a patron of the charity and he appeared on the daytime programme to make people aware of the help available and spoke of his experience after his mother died in a devastating accident, The Mirror Online reports.

He said: “I am still now 35 odd years later deeply scarred by what happened to me.
A defining moment of my life, it changed the way I act and behave and it was devastating.”
Asked if he wished there had been such a helpline when he lost his mother, he said: “Yeah, of course,” adding of him and his loved ones: “We didn’t know what to do.”

On the years that followed their loss, with Martin never able to come to terms with it, he said: “My sister, father and I were incredibly wounded for such a long time.”
He told the panellists: “I struggle to remember anything other than the pain. I’m trying to remember the wonderful person I lost, not remember I lost a wonderful person.”

He later tweeted: "Thank you for all the kind words about my appearance on @loosewomen. I can't respond to them all but they are touching.
"Still a little bit shaken. So taking a little bit of time out. Hopefully my @itvmlshow team won't be too annoyed if I'm a little late for our meet."
